What this notice covers

This notice covers the Blink information website, the Blink app (including Blink in your browser) and correspondence with Kivo Studios. Blink is being prepared for a European release. The information pages of this website do not create an account, collect a photo library or take payments.

The Blink app stores accounts, profiles, profile photos, likes, matches, messages, footprints and reports on Blink’s servers, as described below. Before payments or other new processing start, this notice will be updated first.

Uploads are limited to prevent misuse.Your consent, given when you allow photo or location access. You can withdraw it at any time, in Blink or in your phone’s settings.

Photos, location and crossed paths

Crossed paths work from where and when your photos were taken, not from the photos themselves. If you allow photo access, the app reads the location and capture time of photos from the last two years on your phone. Each location is reduced to an area of about 150 metres and each time to a one-hour slot. These footprints are stored on Blink’s servers to compare with other members. Exact coordinates, the images, their file addresses and their full metadata never leave your phone.

On the web, at blinkdate.app/app, Blink cannot open your photo library. If you choose photos there, only their location and capture time are read, inside your browser, and reduced to footprints in the same way; the photos are not uploaded.

Location needs a separate opt-in and your phone’s permission. If you allow it, Blink also uses your location in the background, so crossings are found even when the app is closed. On your phone, each location becomes an area of about 150 m and an hour before anything is sent; exact coordinates never leave your phone. Background location is gentle on your battery: it updates when you move (roughly every 100 m, and on Android only a few times an hour), not with constant GPS. You can choose “While using the app” or turn location off at any time in Photos & location or in your phone’s settings. On the web, at blinkdate.app/app, location only works while the page is open. We use your location on the basis of your consent, which you can withdraw at any time. Installing the app alone does not enable it.

Crossings show as Same moment (the same area within two hours), Same day or Same place on different days. For a same-place crossing, Blink does not show where or when. Footprint uploads are limited to prevent misuse.

You can delete your photo places and location history at any time in Photos & location; the copy on Blink’s servers is deleted too. Deleting your account deletes your account, profile, profile photos, likes, matches, messages and footprints.

Dating information and sensitive data

A dating profile, preferences, conversations or a visit may reveal particularly sensitive information, including sexual orientation, beliefs or health. Share only what you are comfortable disclosing. We do not ask for medical records, diagnoses or health-device information.

Ordinary consent and a device permission are not interchangeable. Where an online feature processes special-category information on the basis of explicit consent, that consent must be specific and freely given before processing starts, with a way to withdraw it. Our health data notice explains this distinction further.

Payments and recipients

Stripe is the planned payment provider. There is no checkout on this website and we do not collect card details here. If payment options are introduced, the checkout will identify the merchant, price, recurring terms if any, and the payment provider before you pay.

Kivo Studios does not sell your information or load advertising trackers. Blink’s servers run on Supabase, which stores the app information described above for us. Other members see your profile, your profile photos and the messages you send them. Information can also be disclosed where a legal obligation requires it. Blink’s app information is stored and processed in the European Union, in Ireland.

Keeping and deleting information

The website preference stays in your browser until you reset it, clear site storage or your browser removes it. Contact form fields are not saved by this website. Once you send an email, copies can remain in your own email application and in the recipient’s correspondence records.

App information stays on Blink’s servers until you delete it. You can delete your photo places and location history at any time, and deleting your account deletes the rest. Correspondence is kept only as long as necessary to resolve the request and meet any applicable legal or dispute-handling obligation. Contact us about an existing message if you want it located or removed.

Your rights in Europe

Depending on the processing and applicable law, you may ask to access, correct or erase your personal information, restrict processing, object to processing based on legitimate interests, and receive portable data. Where processing relies on consent, you may withdraw it without affecting earlier lawful processing.

Email [email protected] with enough information to locate the request. Do not send a passport or identity card in an initial message. Any identity check should be proportionate. GDPR requests normally receive a response within one month; if the law permits an extension, the reason and timing must be explained.

You may complain to your local European data protection authority or the Dutch Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens. The GDPR text describes these rights and their limits.

Children, security and changes

Blink is intended for adults aged 18 and over. It is not a children’s service. If you believe a child’s information has been shared with us, contact [email protected] without circulating that information more widely.

No connection or storage system can be guaranteed perfectly secure. Avoid sending passwords, payment details or precise private location history in ordinary email. Material changes to this notice will be dated and, when the law requires it, brought to the attention of affected people before new processing begins.
